2016 Ferrari 488 GTB
While red might be the go-to colour for Ferraris (and has been for 80 years) the white exterior on this car was chosen for a very good reason: It contrasts beautifully with the multiple factory carbon-fibre options that were fitted to the car from new.
The factory carbon extends from the side-ducts, side splitters, rear diffuser and even the centre-cap of the wheels. Inside, the theme continues with a carbon-fibre central bridge, sill covers and driver’s zone which also includes the steering wheel with built in LED gearshift indicators. The rest of the interior is special too, with Cavallinos stitched into the head-rests, a leather cover for the rear shelf, yellow tachometer and fully electric seats.
Sit Back & Relax
Outside, the other factory options include the red brake calipers, the adaptive headlights and 20-inch forged, dark painted alloy wheels. Safety is taken care of with front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera, while the nose of the car itself is protected by a suspension lifter.
The Ferrari 488 is, of course, much more than a packaging exercise and in terms of the driving experience it remains a very pure one. That’s partly down to the enormous performance from the 3.9-litre V8 engine which, thanks to modern engine management and a pair of turbochargers, manages to produce not just huge horsepower, but also a massive amount of torque spread over an equally huge rev range. A seven-speed dual-clutch provides gearshifts in the milli-seconds thanks to Ferrari’s Formula 1 experience carrying over to its road cars.
Features include: Suspension lifter, sports exhaust system, navigation, electric seats, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, yellow tachometer, factory carbon-fibre packages, red brake calipers, 20-oinch forged alloy wheels, paddle shifters, dual-zone climate control, adaptive headlights, selectable drive modes, carbon-ceramic brakes, lap timer.
