2016 Ferrari California T
Best of Both Worlds
The ability to use the Ferrari California T as either a coupe or convertible should not be under-estimated. While the freedom of open-top motoring is something that many aspire to, the concept of a cloth soft-top doesn’t always gel with the security and comfort demands of modern city life. Enter the California T which, with its folding metal roof serves up the best of both coupe and cabriolet worlds.
Updated for the 2015 model-year, the California got a new look courtesy of some revised sheet metal as well as the turbocharged V8 engine which is more efficient and more economical than the normally-aspirated unit it replaced. For all that, it still feels and sounds like a Ferrari V8 with its screaming redline and urgency through the throttle pedal.
The bright blue exterior is complimented beautifully by the lush tan leather interior, while details such as the yellow brake calipers and yellow tachometer face help give this car its own persona. With driver-selectable drive modes, launch-control and adaptive dampers (all controlled by switches on the steering wheel) the California T is just as flexible and adaptable to drive as the folding metal roof makes it as a car.
The California model has always been a lifestyle-oriented mainstay of the Ferrari line-up, and the 2016 version is definitely more of the same, but with even more sting in its tail thanks to the latest technology available.
Features include: Apple CarPlay, yellow brake calipers, chromed front grille, carbon-fibre steering wheel, 20-inch forged painted rims, yellow tachometer, fully electric seats, dual-zone climate control, launch control, adaptive dampers, selectable drive modes, paddle shifters.
