2018 Ferrari Portofino
Ferraris don’t just look great in red, you know! Some, like the Portofino, look just fabulous in white; or in this case, the deep white that is the extra cost Bianco Italia. The external contrast of white against this Ferrari’s black body apertures and yellow brakes is so striking you’d wouldn’t even think of ordering a Portofino in any other exterior colour.
This design sensibility continues through to the interior with Bianco stitching for the cavallinos on the headrests and trims for the seats. Aluminium rev counter, centre console bar and aluminium driver and passenger footrests add to the premium feel. The deep footwells and long bonnet also provide plenty of front legroom for maximum comfort.
Gem of an engine
The 3.9-litre turbo V8 is a gem of an engine: tractable and tenacious with 441 kW of power and a surfeit of torque with 760 Nm at the ready from 3,000 rpm. And the sound! Don’t believe anyone who says the forced induction V8 isn’t as characterful as the previous generation normally aspirated Ferrari V8s. These people have wax in their ears.
This is an exceptionally clean car with loads of comfort, performance and design options. Drum roll, please: Magneride dual-mode suspension, yellow brake calipers, Scuderia Ferrari shields, adaptive headlights, front and rear parking cameras, passenger display, chrome painted wheels, full electric seats, foldable rear seat backrests, super powerful JBL high-end sound system, electrochromic rear view mirror and front grille with chromed edges.
