2019 Maserati Quattroporte
Maserati Magic Dust
Translated as brutally as possible, the badge on this car reads simply `Four-door’. But stick with its native Italian and the word `Quattroporte’ is as evocative as any other car badge ever minted. That’s a testament to the Italian ability to transform literal into floral and, in fact, is a metaphor for the entire Maserati Quattroporte phenomenon. What could have been simply a functional, comfortable four-door sedan, when dusted with the Maserati magic, emerges as a sensuous, sleek, aspirational car that can also move with the best of them.
Fast & Efficient
With a high-stepping, twin-turbocharged V6 engine teamed with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Quattroporte is both fast and efficient. The engine is mounted well back in the chassis, too, offering brilliant weight distribution which, combined with the inherent stability of a long-wheelbase design such as this, results in huge high-speed poise. And all the while, those on board are being treated to a sumptuous experience courtesy of the huge list of standard equipment.
Safety was a huge part of the modern Quattroporte’s brief and, as such, this car has a raft of features designed to keep its occupants safe. Those include forward-collision warning and even the ability for the on-board cameras to recognise road signs and adjust the car’s speed accordingly. But efficiency was also a major target, so there’s an incredible level of detail on that front. That includes a set of shutters in front of the radiator that control the engine’s temperature and, when closed, help improve aerodynamic efficiency.
Features include: Forward collision warning, air-shutter system, traffic sign recognition, power sunroof, Alcantara roof lining, carbon-fibre package, driver-assistance package, power rear sun-blind, Trident headrests, Bowers and Wilkins sound system, sports steering wheel, keyless entry, rear privacy glass, red brake calipers, navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, four-zone climate-control.
