2017 Lotus Exige Sport 380
What happens when you take what is already a bona-fide supercar and make it even more aggressive? The Lotus Exige Sport 380 is what. Based on the Exige 350, the Sport 380 builds on that sound platform by offering more power and improved aerodynamics. But, true to Lotus’ original mantra of less is more, the 380 has also been re-engineered to reduce its kerb mass to a lithe 1,075kg.
And the results are explosive, including a top speed north of 280 km/h and a nought-to-100 km/h time of around 3.5 seconds. That’s the result of not just the 3.5-litre V6 engine with a supercharger to boost power and torque to new-for-Lotus levels, but also the pay-off of a dedicated weight-loss regime.
Aerodynamic & Lightweight
Those mass reduction methods include the use of carbon-fibre for some of the exterior panels including the roof and hatch and even extend to the stunning exposed and rose-jointed gearshift mechanism. The 380’s extra aerodynamic downforce is the result of the additional carbon-fibre splitters, wings and flaps.
The Sport 380’s sporting credentials are underlined by the factory-fitted Michelin Sport Cup tyres while the rear-drive handling typifies all that we’ve come to expect from Lotus cars and the Lotus philosophy.
This particular car is one of only three in the country and is the only example in this colour. Features include: Alcantara trim, sports seats, keyless entry and start, selectable drive modes, electronic differential, performance brakes, carbon-fibre package.
