2014 Maserati GranTurismo Sport
The acquisition of Maserati by the Fiat Group in 1993 began to change Maserati’s global fortunes, and by 2014, it was selling 3000 cars a year; a record for the marque. In Australia, that resurgence meant better product supply and more aggressive marketing from the importer.
Standing out as the model that helped give the brand some real punch in this market is the Maserati GranTurismo. Not only did the model represent a true alternative to the other high-end grand-touring makes and models, it cemented the brand’s reputation as a maker of quality, fast cars that could cover continents in a day.
A large part of that was the tie-up with Fiat which gave Maserati access to the fabulous Ferrari-built 4.7-litre V8 which became the GranTurismo’s signature tune. Literally.
This car is a 2014-built Sport version, so it has the highest output variant of that Ferrari engine. This gives it 338 kW of power and 520 Nm of torque. The engine is also mounted behind the front axle-line, making it a true front-mid mounted layout. This car also features the conventional six-speed automatic which perfectly matches its role as a potent interstater. With a pristine white exterior and unmarked black leather interior, the car is presented with less than 14,000 km showing on its odometer.
Features include: On-board hard-drive, Bluetooth, stability-control, brake-force distribution, front and rear parking sensors, tow-away protection, keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate-control, pollen filter, active Bi-Xenon headlights, automatic wipers, paddle shifters, navigation, tyre-pressure monitoring, 20-inch alloy wheels.
