2016 Audi R8 V10
V10 Plus More
Lasers for headlights? Indeed, and that’s just part of the techno tour de force that is an Audi R8 V10. In fact, this vehicle goes even one better than that, as it’s the Plus model which built on the V10’s stunning foundations to add even more power. And that’s not a hollow claim involving a handful of horsepower, either; no, the Plus engine modifications result in a massive 52 kW advantage over the `normal’ R8 V10, taking total power to 449 kW and torque to 560 Nm. And if the nought to 100 km/h time of 3.2 seconds doesn’t get your attention, the distinctive wail of the V10 engine at 8,000 rpm certainly will.
That performance is fed through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and then via a variable torque-split to all four wheels via Audi’s famous Quattro drive system. Magnetically-controlled dampers provide adaptive suspension and there are selectable drive modes to tailor the car’s behaviour. The interior is an ergonomic triumph with Audi’s celebrated virtual cockpit allowing for any number of information outputs and display permutations.
Practicality to the Max
While the mid-engined layout makes the R8 a strict two-seater, the original purchaser of this car added a few options to improve practicality including the storage package which includes luggage nets and storage spaces behind the seats. The seats themselves are the optional factory sports seats, and the exterior mirrors were ordered in carbon-fibre to contrast nicely with the stealthy Suzuki Grey exterior.
Features include: LED/laser headlights, Storage package, 19-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, carbon-fibre exterior mirrors, adaptive suspension, driver-selectable modes, heated and powered seats, keyless entry and start, navigation, virtual cockpit, adaptive cruise-control, dual-zone climate-control.
