2016 Ferrari California T
Meticulously maintained and a pure pleasure to drive. This Grigio Silverstone California T was beautifully specified at time of order with its diamond patterned quilted seats with Grigio Chiaro stitching throughout a highlight. Yellow shields, brake calipers and centre wheel caps amplify its aesthetic appeal.
The 20-inch forged aluminium wheels are a twin five-spoke deign and the matte Grigio finish works in perfect harmony with the grey body, which we should add, features full clear plastic wrap for maximum protection for peace of mind for its previous fussy owner.
The California badge is one that goes a long way back at Ferrari and has been applied to some of the most beautiful bodies ever to roll out of Maranello. This time around, the California is also supremely practical and combines a number of cars into one. For a start, it’s a visceral, fast sports car, but at the same time, the two-plus-two layout also makes it almost sensible when you need it to be. Then there’s the folding aluminium roof which effectively gives you both a coupe and a convertible in the one package.
Power and Sound
By 2016, Ferrari had fitted the California with its turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 engine (hence the `T’) and performance went through the roof. Those who question the value of swapping from normally-aspirated engines to turbocharged powerplants need only to look at the California T’s brutal performance combined with its vastly improved efficiency and fuel economy to see that a turbocharged future is no bad thing. And be assured this is one Ferrari that still sounds like a Ferrari.
