2016 Rolls-Royce Ghost
First Ultra-Luxury car
One of the first products of a revitalised Rolls Royce, the Ghost was a true real-world ultra-luxury car. With dimensions slightly more compact than its stablemate the Phantom, the Ghost still manages to offer a similar level of wow factor thanks to the sheer depth of its design and execution.
Design features such as the reverse-opening rear doors and the stately visage all help create that persona, but even beneath that, the engineering tells a more modern, but still transfixing, story. For instance, the V12 engine displaces 6.6 litres and manages to churn out 780 Nm of torque at incredibly low engine speeds to mate perfectly with the eight-speed automatic transmission.
Fantasy made real
But the fantasy made real doesn’t end there: The transmission is actually linked to a satellite-navigation system that knows precisely where on the planet the car is at any given moment. From that information, the car “knows” in what terrain it is operating and can tailor the transmission’s behaviour to suit. Air suspension maintains the sort of ride one would expect from the Rolls Royce marque, and that’s despite the 21-inch alloy wheels and tyres that would suggest a firm ride in anything without the Ghost’s level of engineering.
Reminiscent of decades past
This particular car is a stunning example thanks to the subtle, but stately colour schemes chosen by the original purchaser. The Stone paintwork is contrasted by a Satin Silver bonnet and draws a direct link with two-tone Rolls Royces of decades past. Inside, the Crème Light and Navy leather combination is simply stunning and with additions such as burr walnut timber trim, massage front seats, front and rear television/entertainment systems, individual rear seats and even lambs wool floor mats, this Ghost is a classic expression of the Rolls Royce spirit.
Features include: Front and rear heated seats, ventilated and massage seats, radar cruise-control, head-up display, night vision, lane-departure warning, TV front and rear entertainment system, individual rear seats, 21-inch fully polished alloy wheels, lambs wool foot mats. The buyer of this vehicle will also be treated to two years of scheduled servicing and a two-year warranty as part of the Rolls Royce Provenance package.
