2017 Ferrari California T
Famous California badge
The fabulous Ferrari Californias of the 1950s and 60s set the tone for any future Ferrari to carry the famous California badge. And in the new millennium, Ferrari did, indeed, revive the name for a very special car that took grand touring to new heights.
Twin turbo V8
That was improved upon even further in 2014 when the phenomenal twin-turbocharged V8 engine found its way beneath the California’s svelte nose. Turbocharged versions of the California can be spotted by the T badging, and as a 2017 example, this is one of the latest examples and presents in stunning condition.
The latter-day California represents several Ferrari firsts, too, including the very first model to feature a front-mounted V8 engine, the first use of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and the first Ferrari to use a folding metal hardtop to provide coupe security with convertible freedom. The engine itself is also a trend-setter being the first Ferrari powerplant to make use of direct-injection.
