2017 Ferrari GTC4 Lusso
Four up, thumbs up
If moving four people and their luggage at speed and in total comfort is the priority, then the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso must be the car of choice. The GTC4 Lusso is also the replacement for the mighty Ferrari FF; incredibly big boots to fill by any standard. Clearly, corners could not be cut.
Ferrari’s celebrated twin-turbo V8 engine is the motive force for the GTC4, and is mounted in a forward-midships location to maximise the passenger cell, while Ferrari’s contemporary design language forms a better-than-expected luggage area.
The comfort side of things is handled by four sumptuous bucket seats, the front ones featuring memory and heating functions as well as electrically-adjustable lumbar support. This car also features a carbon-fibre interior and a panoramic sunroof with its own solar sensors to control the amount and intensity of light allowed through. This example is also fitted with Apple CarPlay, yellow brake calipers, a dual-view front parking camera and a factory suspension-lifter to protect the car’s nose from everyday obstacles.
Like any Ferrari, of course, when conditions and laws allow, it can cover ground at an amazing rate. That’s partly due to the sharp-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch transmission as well as four-wheel-steering. Unlike the FF and the original version of the GTC4, however, this version does away with the four-wheel-drive architecture, reducing weight and increasing the car’s appeal to the purists out there.
Apple car play, Bluetooth connectivity, multi-function screen, launch-control, traction-control, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry and start, Bi-Xenon headlight, rain-sensing wipers, type-pressure monitoring, navigation, selectable driving modes, active differential, adaptive dampers.
