2018 Ferrari 488 GTB
True Ferrari fashion
As the first modern example of Ferrari’s move to a forced-induction future, this stunning Ferrari 488 is also at the cutting edge of engine technology. The race-winning, dry-sumped 3.9-litre V8 remains mounted behind the seats in true Ferrari fashion, but the twin turbochargers take performance and efficiency to a new level.
While there’s a distinct family resemblance with the earlier Ferrari 458 upon which the 488 is based, the later car actually boasts 50 per cent more downforce, giving it real stability at the sort of speeds of which it is clearly capable. The brand’s F1 double-clutch manual gearbox features seven speeds and lightning fast shifts as well as offering a fully-automatic mode for day-to-day convenience.
This particular car stands out with its sparkling white paint contrasted with yellow brake calipers and an interior featuring a yellow-faced tachometer and electric seats. A sports exhaust system provides the soundtrack and there’s a factory fitted reversing camera for safety.
And even though the low stance of the 488 would otherwise make tackling driveways and speed humps a potentially traumatic experience, the factory nose-lifter restores a level of practicality that defies the car’s intent and abilities.
Bluetooth connectivity, front and side air-bags, electronic brake-force distribution, Keyless entry and start, parking sensors, climate-control, Xenon headlights, ceramic brakes, navigation, trye-pressure monitoring, selectable drive modes, active differential, adaptive dampers.
