2019 Porsche 911 GT3
Black might have a reputation for being a stealthy colour, but there’s absolutely no mistaking what this Porsche 911 GT3 is all about. Even with that black cloak, the GT3 leaves you in no doubt that it’s both a capable road car and absolutely track-ready when the weekend comes. And that’s before you even start the engine or select first gear in the paddle-shifted dual-clutch transmission.
From the outside, the extra ducts, coolers, massive centre-lock alloy wheels, sticky tyres and that huge rear wing tell the story. But even once you’re inside, the Porsche doesn’t stop making its case with a factory roll-cage, which incorporates a mounting-bar for the race harnesses. The seats themselves feature Alcantara inserts while the steering wheel is trimmed in the same material.
While the GT3 lacks the turbochargers of its Turbo and GT2 stablemates, the classic Porsche flat-six is still capable of muscling up 368 kW of power and 460 Nm of torque from its four litres. And as a track-day contender, the normally-aspirated engine maintains a linear power delivery that keen drivers value highly. As they do the GT3’s conventional rear-wheel-drive handling.
But if the GT3 is a traditionalist in those areas, in others it’s as modern as anything else on the road. The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission fires off lightning-fast up and down-shifts. There’s also adaptive dampers, an active exhaust, a suspension lifter and the latest safety and convenience features, including a reversing camera and navigation.
Features include: Navigation, adaptive dampers, reversing camera, full body kit, Alcantara trim, race harnesses, roll-cage, Sport Chrono package, active exhaust system, nose-lifter, selectable drive modes, cruise-control, dual-clutch transmission.
